With many of us ‘keeping it local’ this summer, we’ve compiled a list of just some of the wonderful places you can visit in 2021.

Cinderella on Ice

Cinderella on ice

How about a trip to the stunning grounds of Stewart Park to watch a magical fairy tale on ice with your little ones? Cinderella on Ice offers a high-end musical and spectacular visuals for all ages in Middlesbrough this summer. What could be better than getting lost in the wonderful world of a fairy tale for a few hours?

When can I see it?

This fabulous show on ice is showing in Middlesbrough from 29th August to 5th September this year. Choose the afternoon showing starting promptly at 4:30pm or make an evening of it when ‘curtains open’ at 7:30pm.

How much are tickets?

Prices start from £18 and can be purchased here.

Enjoy Some Local Culture

vintage furniture

It’s never too early to teach our children some local history and there’s no better way of doing so than with a trip to the Dorman Museum. With a myriad of galleries, adults and kids will love learning about the 20th century woman, earth in space, town in time and so much more. Couple this with a visit to Dressers Café for a cuppa and a cake and it really is the perfect day out!

When can I visit?

The Dorman Museum is closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.  Opening hours are every other day between 10am and 4pm with the last entry admitted at 3pm.

How much is the entry fee?

Absolutely nothing! It’s free to visit the museum. Small charges may be added to any specific events happening that day.

Enjoy a Day at the Beach

saltburn beach and pier

We’re extremely lucky in our region to be home to some of the most stunning beaches across the country. So why not make the most of these this summer? Remember, we’re from ‘up north’ which means come rain or shine, we’ll have a blooming good day out!

From Redcar and Saltburn to Seaton Carew, there’s a spot on the sand with your family’s name on it. Don’t forget to bring towels (no matter the weather) as kids always love to paddle. Build sandcastles, investigate the wildlife and even dig for treasure! The day is your lobster and always what you make of it.

When can I visit?

Any time you like! That’s the beauty of the beach; you can pop along and make a day of it or head over during the evening for a stroll as the sun goes down.

How much does it cost?

This all depends on you. Take enough for a bag of chips and an ice cream and you’re pretty much set!

Tweddle Farm

llamas

If you fancy something a little more hands on, a trip to the farm is always great fun. At Tweddle Farm children are greeted by llamas, lambs, horses and more and even have the chance to feed them! Enjoy the petting centre, bottle feeding baby lambs and have a go on the go karts. You could even discover your child is the next Tiger Woods with a game of the old classic, crazy golf.

When can I visit?

Tweddle Farm is currently open seven days a week from 10am until 4pm.

How much does it cost?

An adult ticket is £8.95 with a child’s at £7.95. A family ticket consists of two adults and two children and is priced at £29.00. If you have a love for the farm you could invest in an annual pass; adults at £40.00 and children £35. Animal feed is 50p a bag.

For the Thrill Seekers

rope

For those who love an adrenaline rush, have you checked out the Air Trail at the Tees Barrage? This amazing high rope adventure course is set over four levels and offers over 38 unique challenges. From wobbly rope bridges to tightropes and cargo nets, it’s a great challenge. Available for all ages you can choose the actual Air Trail, Europe’s biggest sky trail and plum for the Air Tykes for 2-4 year olds.

When can I visit?

Booking is recommended to avoid disappointment. The Air Trail is open Tuesday’s Thursday’s and Saturday’s and you can book in here.
